The Idea & Process
Early one morning I awoke to an idea- crocheting a vase with cotton then dipping it in liquid clay; similar to lace draping without the lace. The first couple of tries resulted in nothing more than dust in the bottom of the kiln. It wasn't long before I produced a vase that held its shape. Each vase is dipped then shaped and once dry is fired anywhere up to a temperature of 2269 degrees. Proper ventilation is always used during this process as the cotton burns away. It is now an endless rainbow of colors deep in my mind when applying the glaze. The result is light weight and delicate. Care should be
given by handling the piece by the bottom.

Imagination is described as the ability to form a picture in your mind of something that you have not seen or
experienced. In my life I get the greatest joy in creating what I imagine.
In these moments of quietness I find the most peace and when I create that new
piece, the aw of getting up early and looking into the kiln to see what
wonderful color will greet me, is pure bliss.
Art is like life, it gives us the ability to go all out,
to fail, to succeed, to explore, to grow, but
mostly to express who we are.
