Hello, I'm Holly Jensen
I grew up in beautiful Bear Lake City, Utah with a creative mother. As a young child I learned all I could from her and at the age of 18 I was teaching others how to do ceramics in our shop we owned in Montpelier, Idaho. As I grew, so did my creative side. I spent most of my time walking with my German shepherd on the hills above our house. From there you could see the green lush alfalfa fields below and plump clouds as the lumbered across the hills. Beyond those hills was the uniquely-colored Bear Lake.
When I was 20 I moved to Salt Lake City and took oil painting lessons from Frank Erickson. He taught me to never quit. One day he said to me, "You're never going to learn if you don't finish what you start." I never forgot this lesson. I got married and had a little girl while still continuing to work on ceramics and art. My family and I spent many years traveling to different states and cities doing craft fairs.
Several years later I created my own line of Native American dolls and would research every book I could find to make sure
their outfits were authentic. I hand-stitched every outfit and beaded every breast plate. One day while doing a craft fair in Alpine, Wyoming a Native American dancer gave me the greatest compliment and told me that my dolls were very authentic.
I spent many years working a regular job and still worked on my art on the side or in my spare time. My daughter and I moved to Arizona and enjoyed living in the amazingly busy city for 7 years. We then decided it was time to move to the country, so we settled down in the rural town of Cortez, CO were we currently reside. The vibrant colors that outline the morning clouds as the sun sets brings a little peace to one's well being. With these amazing views it's hard not to daydream!
